AfriBusiness is pleased to share with the public that the organisation received confirmation from the Department of Land Reform and Rural Development that the period for public commentary on the Regulation of Agricultural Land Holdings Bill will be extended from 30 days to 60 days from the date of first publication on 17 March 2017. This means that the public will have until 17 May 2017 to go through the contents of the Bill and make comments thereon. The Department confirmed that the notice for extension will be promulgated in the Government Gazette on 13 April 2017.

“This is a great success for both local and foreign agricultural landowners who as of yet are still not aware of the Bill’s existence or the contents thereof. We therefore urge the public who will be affected by this Bill to submit their comments before the closing date of 17 May 2017,” says Armand Greyling, Law and Policy Analyst at AfriBusiness.
