About this case

“Load reduction” is a relatively recent form of irregular power cuts that are applied over and above load shedding, in an effort by Eskom to recover debt and put and end to illegal consumption. In the process, the electricity supply of several paying end users is interrupted for hours on end. This is irrational and unfair. Sakeliga is undertaking this case against Eskom to bring relief to businesses and other paying direct end users of Eskom who have been suffering from illegal load reduction since 2021. Sakeliga is asking the court to declare Eskom’s load reduction policy unlawful and unconstitutional.
