Bosberaad 2024: “Accelerate Town Renewal with Alternative Solutions”
Towns across the country are under pressure from state collapse and disorder. If we rely solely on the state, improvement will not come soon. Alternative solutions for accelerated town renewal are required – and this is what Sakeliga’s Bosberaad from 24 to 25 October 2024 is about.
The conference is packed with lessons learned, ideas and plans, and strategic and practical guidelines for how chambers of commerce and others can intervene at the local level.
Topics and speakers include:
- The Role and Strategy of Business Organisations - Piet le Roux
- Successes and Challenges of the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Since 1967 - Morné Seaman
- The Political Environment and Business Organisations - Russell Lamberti
- A Litigation Framework for Chambers of Commerce - Péter Wassenaar
- The Importance of Good Records and Administration for Town Renewal - Chris Bosch
- How to File Municipal Disputes and Objections - Christo Bester
- The Power of Service Associations in Towns - Péter Wassenaar
- Legal Steps and Litigation Concerning Land Invasions - Hans-Jurie Moolman
- Workshop: How Towns can Handle Sudden Land Invasions - Gideon Joubert
- ZZ2's Approach to Illegal Township Formation and Trespassing - Christo Reeders
- Information Technology as a Tool for Chambers of Commerce and Business Organisations - Tian Alberts
Sakeliga's Mission: Building Scalable Solutions to State Failure
- Join thousands of dedicated, mission-aligned funders
- Protect our communities from a failing state
- Secure a flourishing economy in the place you love
The crisis in local municipalities will continue for a long time if we wait on the state to turn its failures around – too long.
Businesspeople will need to intervene, and they are already doing so, with or without permission.
To do so successfully and defensibly, more than just individual actions and isolated efforts are needed. It will require that businesspeople in towns establish their own independent business organisations and that we as organisations learn from each other about what works and what doesn’t.
This way, we can arrive at scalable models to restore order and prosperity in towns and rural areas.
The Bosberaad is presented annually for business organisations connected to Sakeliga’s chamber support network. However, other business organisations and interested parties are also welcome. Space is limited, and booking is essential.
