Compulsory race quotas for the workplace

Sakeliga rejects the Employment Equity Amendment Ac and is preparing litigation against it. The amendment, which was signed into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa on April 6, 2023, allows the government to prescribe demographic quotas to private employers, regardless of whether they conduct business with the state. By mandating demographic quotas for who businesses must employ under the threat of fines, the Act violates the required separation of society and state and seeks to replace entrepreneurial control of businesses with political control. Sakeliga is preparing to litigate against the amendment and its application.
